The extractive industries of the accession countries – EU enlargement Against a background of the current political debate this report looks to those bodies that are involved with and will be affected by European enlargement, namely the political decision makers, institutions and authorities at regional and national level, along with the European Commission and European Parliament. However it also canvasses the views of the private sector and its various associations and organisations and those members of the general public who are interested in this development, in other words those who – due to a lack of transparency as to the current negotiations on accession – may be keen to know ‘where all this is leading to’.
